Faith LaSalle Obtains Defense Verdict in Construction Site Injury Trial

April 2017

On April 7, 2017, a Providence County jury returned a defense verdict in a construction site injury case where plaintiff sought over $500,000 in damages.  Plaintiff claimed that he tripped on a piece of equipment left in a common area by an employee of the defendant.  He sought damages for injuries to his ankle and shoulder that required three surgeries, and resulted in post-traumatic arthritis in the ankle and the potential for a future ankle fusion. His medical expert found him permanently disabled from performing the duties of a carpenter. The claim included approximately $240,000 in lost wages and $53,000 in medical specials.  Faith persuasively argued that her client was not negligent in managing the work area and that the plaintiff's version of how he fell was improbable.
